water levels, construction and other elements affecting navigation on the Erie,
Champlain, Oswego and Cayuga-Seneca Canals.

NOTICE: Effective November 1, 2009, New York State Vehicle and
Traffic Law Section 1225-d prohibits the operator of a motor vehicle from using
any portable electronic device while such vehicle is in motion. In this regard,
portable electronic device includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, personal
digital assistants, handheld devices with mobile data access, laptop computers,
pagers, broadband personal communication devices and other portable computing devices.
This prohibition applies to viewing, taking or transmitting images, and to composing,
sending, reading, viewing, accessing, browsing, transmitting, saving or retrieving
email, text messages or other electronic data.
Hold Feature: The Canal Corporation offers a "Hold"
feature that will allow you to place your subscription on hold. Notice to
Mariner emails will not be sent to your email address while in hold status. This
option may be useful if you are going on vacation and do not want to receive emails
during that time.
After you submit your information and activate your subscription, you will be able
to use the "Hold" feature by simply updating your profile information
and checking the "Hold" option.
The New York State Canal Corporation (Canal Corporation) provides these Notice to
Mariners as a public service planning tool. The Canal Corporation endeavors to publish
the most accurate, up-to-date information available. However, because canal conditions
change rapidly, the Canal Corporation cannot and does not guarantee the accuracy
of this information. There are often delays between the time an incident occurs
and the time it is reported to the Canal Corporation and posted to the Canal Notices
and Alerts information system. Also, incidents may exist that have not yet been
reported to the Canal Corporation. Therefore, these Notice to Mariners are intended
for general information purposes and the Canal Corporation advises all receivers
of these alerts that they should not be relied upon without independent verification.
The Canal Corporation, its officers, employees and agents, shall not be liable for,
and recipients of these Notice to Mariners expressly agree not to make any charges
or claims for, damages or losses of any kind arising out of receipt or inability
to receive these emails, the use or reliance on these Notice to Mariners or their
content, or any computer or software problems experienced in association with these
Notice to Mariners. The Canal Corporation will not provide any technical support
for receivers of these Notice to Mariners.
The information in these Notice to Mariners is the property of the Canal Corporation.
Receivers of these Notice to Mariners shall not sell, use in any process for value
added product, or otherwise distribute for profit in any form, any portion of these
Notice to Mariners or the information contained therein without the express written
permission of the Canal Corporation.
